Plymouth is home to the UK’s largest aquarium with the National Marine Aquarium sited right on the water at the entrance to Sutton Harbour.
Be amazed by the fascinating underwater world with a trip to this engaging family-friendly attraction which boasts more than 40 tanks – including the deepest tank in Britain holding 2.5 million litres of water, and awash with sharks, stingrays, barracuda and a variety of fish.
Take a journey across the world’s oceans from the shores of Plymouth to the coral reefs of the tropics, and find out how we all play a part in conserving it.
You’ll meet sharks, seahorses, jellyfish, turtles and even a mermaid – and younger visitors will love the touch pool where they can get close to lots of smaller creatures.
As a charity dedicated to conservation, research and education, the National Marine Aquarium is bursting with models, displays, creative workshops and engaging exhibitions, talks and shows to make you think as well as entertaining visitors of all ages.
The National Marine Aquarium runs many fun events throughout the year, and one of the most popular is the regular Sleeping with the Sharks experience where adults and children can bring their sleeping bags and spend the night in front of the shark tank, before waking up to a tasty breakfast in the café the next morning.
