Devon Fit Camp Trail at Sutton Harbour

Please ensure you are suitably dressed and wearing well-fitting trainers before you start, and perform each exercise to your own level of fitness. For information on how to carry out each exercise, see our video guide or downloadable pdf.

The Devon Fit Camp Trail’s suggested start point is West Pier beside the Barbican Prawn next to the Mayflower Steps – you can’t miss it! Ensure that you jog or run between each training station – according to your fitness level – to keep your heartbeat raised for optimum training.

Exercises

Each exercise to be completed as follows:

  • Beginners: once through before moving onto the next station
  • Intermediate: twice through before moving onto the next station
  • Advanced: repeat three times before moving onto the next station

West pier exercise

West Pier: Near the Mayflower Steps

Power squats for 30 seconds, with 30 seconds of recovery between each set.

Quay road exercise

Quay Road: Between Cap'n Jaspers and The Ship Inn on Quay Road

Forward / reverse lunges for 30 seconds training and 30 seconds recovery. Start with the right leg; switch to left leg after 15 seconds.

Vauxhall quay exercise

Vauxhall Quay

Burpees. Throw yourself into it, and see how to do them properly on our video guide.

North Quay exercise

North Quay: On the corner of The Marina at Sutton Harbour

Single leg touchdowns: 30 seconds training, 30 seconds recovery. Start with the right leg and switch to left leg after 15 seconds.

Pinnacle Quay to East Quay exercise

Prisoner forward lunges along the quayside. Complete length of quay and walk back to repeat x2

Plank 30 seconds training, 30 seconds recovery. Increase to a minute or more if you wish - a great challenge.
