Opening times of pedestrian bridge at Sutton Harbour

7th January 2016

The opening times of the pedestrian footbridge at Sutton Harbour in Plymouth are being altered to allow fishing boats to leave more easily each morning.

The bridge, which crosses the lock gates linking the National Marine Aquarium to the Barbican and other side of Sutton Harbour, will now open from 6am each day, rather than the previous 4am.

Pete Bromley, Harbourmaster of Sutton Harbour and Manager of Plymouth Fisheries, said: “Early morning is a very quiet time of the day when footfall on the bridge is especially low, so we have taken the decision to vary the opening hours slightly to enable the fishing fleet to leave the harbour far more efficiently.”
